Invention of the Day - Pens

Pens

A pen is something that looks like a stick with ink inside it. We use it for writing. Old pens were made from feathers; they were called quills. The first fountain pen was invented in Mary 1827. But the first ballpoint pen was invented in 1938 by Laszlo Biro. Laszlo Biro was a Hungarian news paper editor. Fountain pens and quills needed to be dipped in an ink pot to work. The ballpoint ben has it’s ink inside it and writes more smoothly. Pens are made in lots of different ways. Ballpoint pens are made from 5 different parts. The ball, the ink, the spring, the lock and the body.
