Invention of the Day - Cars

Cars

Cars were invented by Karl Benz in 1885. He invented a three wheeled motor wagon powered by gas. Karl Benz is from Karisrune, a city in southwest Germany. He invented cars to make more money for his metal shop. They are now made in an assembly line in a factory. This allows the vehicles to travel down a conveyor belt to individual stations where workers perform a particular task each vehicle as it travels past their station.

The first mass produced cars with internal combustions engines were Model T Fords, made in the USA from 1908. They freed people form horses and trains and legs, and let them motor when and where they wanted. Cars signaled a vast change in everyday life.
